World building issue: Twilight.
Twilight is some crazy random place you go to and can be trapped in if you mess up a spell fantastically enough (or are sent there by a spell that hits someone with warping points).
Issue: Do non-hermetic mages experience twilight if sent there?
– I theorise that non hermetic mages (i.e norms, religious people, demons, fey, ect.) can be sent there as well but it appears more themed to them (heaven-like for the devout, hell-like for demons, purgatory for norms, etc.).
The other potential is that they simply cannot hold their mortal body/ mind together in this nightmarish realm and all end up perishing. A magi has to make a comprehension check when entering twilight which affects how long they are stuck in twilight so it is conceivable that some mundanes/ specials could withstand it.
Issue: What happens to you in the real world while you’re in twilight?
– Denzi has told me that when you go to twilight, it is a physical place and your body is winked/ torn out of the real world to go go there. You can also choose to voluntarily go into twilight instead of resisting it. Perhaps the transition is such a crazy thing that resisting/ allowing it can have different effects? I think on a non-resist you safely keep your mind/ body together and you are fully in twilight, outside of the material world. On a failed resist your body doesn’t all make it to twilight and remains as some sort of set-piece that is not easily destroyed (enchanted tree, granite statue, etc.). On a botched resist only the mind makes it to twilight and the body remains behind, comatose until the mind can escape twilight.
Perhaps we can discus this at the next council meeting?
